Residential Green Waste Collection Service

From March 1 through November, we provide a weekly green waste collection service that is subscription-based. 30 each year. The container is taken to the compost facility for processing on the same day that your regular garbage is picked up. Residents in annexed areas can sign up for Basin Disposal, Inc.’s green waste collection service. at 509. 547. 2476.

View the current rate for this service. Only the nine months of the year that the program is in operation are charged at the rate. Customers who subscribe to Green Waste can either keep their current 90-gallon trash can or switch to a 64-gallon one at a discounted price. Please contact our Customer Service to sign up.

Green waste collection guidelines:

  • Container must be at curb by 7 a.m.
  • Container must be at least 3 feet from obstacles including other containers.
  • Container must be placed with the lid opening toward street.
  • Do not overfill; lid must close.
  • Do not place additional items on the ground beside your container.
  • Do not wedge branches in the container or it may not empty properly.
  • No plastics, landscape fabric, or other garbage.
  • No dirt, rock, or sod.
  • No pet waste.
  • No food waste.
  • No diseased plants or vegetation.
  • No branches larger than 4 inches in diameter and/or 3 feet in length.
  • Larger than 10 unit multi-family buildings and businesses are serviced as commercial accounts. To meet your needs, we provide a range of container sizes and pick-up intervals. To talk about a program to suit your needs for waste removal, get in touch with our Customer Service office.

    Basin Disposal Inc. provides a subscription-based service for recycling collection for businesses and multi-family buildings with more than 10 units. Please call BDI directly at 509. 547. 2476 to set up this service.

    Hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, dental offices, and other facilities that generate medical waste are given access to a subscription-based service.

    For short-term rental at your residence or place of business, we provide drop box containers in a range of sizes. To talk about your needs and the price of containers, please contact our customer service office.

    We provide collection of the leaves on residential streets that thousands of residents place out each year in coordination with the Streets Division. Did you know that a portion of your monthly garbage rate goes to help provide leaf collection each fall? In addition, we provide two drop-off locations for residents to use in conjunction with the street cleaning program for the disposal of leaves. Every year, we gather about three million pounds of leaves, which are then processed at the Sudbury Landfill Compost Facility.

    Downtown Public Trash and Recycling Collection

    We sponsor weekly collection of the trash and recycling from the public receptacles along the streets of our award-winning downtown to help keep it safe, clean, and appealing for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike. The Walla Walla County Juvenile Justice Center’s work crew is currently contracted to provide the service.
