Need something else?

It is important that you pay your rent each month and on time to support the essential services and amenities in each development. If you make late payments, you are subject to legal fees and possible eviction.

You may make rent payments online, by phone, by mail, or in person at authorized bank or payment centers.

You can pay rent electronically for free through NYCHA's E-Rent program. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed through your computer or smartphone.

Payment of rent by phone is only available to NYCHA residents. There is no processing fee for customers paying by E-Check. There is a convenience fee of .85% of the payment amount for Visa and MasterCard Debit Cards and a convenience fee of 2.25% of the payment amount when paying with Visa/MasterCard credit cards.

The fee is charged by a third-party vendor and no portion of that fee is paid to NYCHA.

Payments made before 5 PM will be credited for the same day. Payments made after 5 PM, on weekends and federal holidays when banks are closed, will be credited on the next business day. Allow 3 to 5 business days for your bank account to reflect the payment.

Authorized Payment Center

You can pay rent in cash at an authorized payment center.  Make sure to get a receipt when you pay. The cashier must give you one. The payment center will charge a $2.00 processing fee. A list of authorized payment centers is available from the Housing Assistant in your development.

NYCHA residents employed by a City agency who receive bi-weekly or semi-monthly paychecks may qualify to have their rent payments deducted automatically.

Under the program, one half of the amount owed on the monthly rent bill will be deducted from the participant's paycheck each pay period. If a month has three pay periods, no deduction will be made from the third pay period.
