For residents who live inside the City of West Lafayette’s sewer district, the City offers curbside trash collection. We offer weekly sanitization services for residences with no more than four units.

How to Start Your Collection Services

After starting your water service with Indiana American Water Company at (800) 492-8373, your collection services will begin automatically for residents of the West Lafayette Sewer District. The cost of recycling and trash collection will be added to your waste water bill. Please call our Billing Department at (765)775-5140 to set up service if you have a well.

Please follow these rules:

  • All items should be at your property line by 7:00 am the day of collection to avoid a missed pick up.
  • Must be in approved trash can.
  • We will pick up one (1) large item in addition to the approved trash can(s).
  • Consider donating items that are still usable.
  • 50 pound weight limit
  • Latex paint should be dry and placed at the curb with the lid off.
  • Approved Trash CanSuitable containers for waste pickup shall be leak-proof, have two handles, includes a metal catch bar (bale), have an attached tight-fitting lid, have a capacity of no more than ninety-six gallons and shall be kept in a sanitary condition.

    The City offers approved toters for purchase.

  • 48-gallon trash toter: $75.00
  • 96-gallon trash toter: $84.00
  • 48-gallon yard waste toter: $75.00
  • We do not accept:

  • Concrete, bricks, roofing shingles
  • Dirt, sod, grass clippings
  • Tires
  • Contractor waste
  • Hazardous chemicals or non-latex paint
  • Electronics or batteries
  • Refrigerators, a/c units, or dehumidifiers
  • The Street & Sanitation Department will be closed:

  • Friday, November 11, 2022 – Yard Waste is CANCELLED
  • Thursday, November 24, 2022 – Trash & Recycle will be collected on Wednesday, November 23, 2022
  • Friday, November 25, 2022 – Yard Waste is CANCELLED
  • Friday, December 23, 2022 – Yard Waste is CANCELLED
  • Monday, December 26, 2022 – Yard Waste is CANCELLED
  • Monday, January 2, 2023 – Yard Waste is CANCELLED
