Following an increase in complaints about con artists, LUS Fiber is urging customers to exercise caution.

According to the business, the con artists have called clients and demanded personal information and payments over the phone, via email, text messages, and social media posts.

According to LUS Fiber, they will never call or otherwise get in touch with customers to ask for their Social Security numbers or other personal information or to demand an immediate payment. They also won’t try to collect money through wire transfers or pre-paid debit cards.

Only automated calls to customers are made as part of LUS Fiber’s billing system to remind them of past due payments. They claim that these calls will advise clients to get in touch with LUS Fiber directly to arrange payments.

Customers can also mail payments using the return envelope provided with their monthly billing statements if they receive a paper bill.

LUS Fiber claims that representatives are always on hand to provide assistance at 99-FIBER (993-4237) if a customer has any questions about the veracity of any attempted contact regarding their account.
