MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — As if the cost of gas and groceries weren’t rising enough, energy costs are now skyrocketing as we attempt to keep our homes cool.
Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) encourages its customers to use one of the cooperative’s cost-effective options to eliminate billing uncertainty.
You can save energy in a variety of ways during the summer months. The MTE Vice President of Community Relations and Member Services, Robert White, said, “And we realized that people want to be comfortable.
Some of the suggestions are common sense, such as closing the blinds or curtains in the summer to keep the house cool. Alternately, set thermostats to 72 degrees and operate ceiling fans counterclockwise.
MTE members have access to a variety of billing options in addition to the standard billing process, such as variable budget billing, which enables members to pay roughly the same amount each month for their bills.
For members who prefer to pay a fixed amount on their bill each month, regardless of energy usage, there is fixed budget billing.
Members who choose the prepay option can top up their accounts before the electricity is used.
When those times came, White said, “We tried to work with our members, and we think that these different payment options will give them an option to help ease that pain and make it more manageable.”
