Not Enough Money To Spare
Angie has never had enough money to spare, but she has always had enough to get by. So when she lost her job, she experienced financial difficulty. Being current on her bills was more difficult than finding a new job because she couldn’t afford to pay the backlog and was afraid that her electricity would be cut off. After Angie contacted Energy Outreach Colorado, we were able to assist her with paying her utility bills and make some energy-saving improvements to her home.
21,747 households were assisted by EOC through the Bill Payment Assistance Program in 2021. In addition to assisting with past due bills, EOC and its partner organizations work to enroll applicants in additional EOC programs to help reduce energy costs and guarantee their homes are secure and comfortable.
The Bill Payment Assistance Program was the nonprofit’s first service it offered to Colorado, even though EOC’s mission has expanded since it was founded more than 30 years ago.
Utility companies, the EOC budget, and private donors all contribute to the Bill Payment Assistance Program’s funding.
