Yes, a family member may pay for your expenses as long as they are using their own credit or debit card or are an authorized representative on your card.
What types of payment options do I have?
Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and checks/money orders are all forms of payment accepted by Independent Health. We also allow for auto deduction from a bank account. Call customer service at (716) 631-8701 or 1-800-501-3439 to sign up for this option.
Why did I receive a bill when I already paid my monthly premium?
It’s possible that your payment and the invoice got mixed up in the mail. Please take note of the statement date and confirm that payment was received before that with your banking institution.
If I am unable to pay the full amount of my monthly premium, will I be terminated?
Yes, full payment of premiums is required before the start of the coverage period. Your coverage may end if the monthly premium is not paid by the last day of the current month’s coverage.
Can I reapply after paying any past-due balances if I am terminated?
Unfortunately, you will need to reapply for your plan if you are terminated.
If the premium bill is not paid on time, will there be a late fee?
The Grace Period is one month (the last day of the month for which the premium bill is for) for non-APTC members and three months for APTC members. Independent Health does not charge a late fee if the bill is not paid precisely on time. Retro terms are allowed for non-APTC.

Why is my bill for more than my monthly premium?
To avoid termination, all premium payments for this contract are made two months in advance. The last week of the month, just before the 60-day window, is when bills are delivered. A bill with a transaction date at the end of March, for instance, will be for coverage through the month of June, with payment due on May 31.
